For over 35 years Conservatory Ballet has been the première academy in Northern Virginia for ballet as a discipline, art form and physical activity for children. Our goal is to develop the individual student to the best of their individual ability while enhancing their joy in movement. Our method of instruction begins with the very youngest in developing hand – eye coordination, musicality, and early socialization with classmates and teachers. All students are exposed to the intellectual, emotional, physical and visual aspects of dance. Conservatory Ballet promotes a value system based on work ethic, respect, support and professionalism which requires a positive attitude and patience to experience results. The founder, Julia Cziller Redick, began her training in Budapest, Hungary at the Hungarian Opera House and the Artist Academy where she was taught the Vaganova method. She moved to the US after 1956 with her mother, Prima Ballerina Mme. Alicia Reisz of the Hungarian Opera. Mrs. Redick continued her studies here in the US and then was appointed the head of Dance Departments for schools in Maryland. In 1971 she founded the Conservatory Ballet in Columbia, Maryland and then opened the Reston Conservatory Ballet in 1979. For the past 23 years, Mrs. Redick’s Conservatory students have been performing “The Nutcracker” here in Reston, Virginia. Performing in the Nutcracker has always been the dream of young ballerinas. Northern Virginia Ballet Classes – Ballet classes for Adults and Children of all ages. We offer over 200 classes per week including: Irish step dancing, Jazz and Hip-Hop, Pilates, KinderMusik®, etc. We also have Dance Camps and Dance Birthday Parties for children. Local ballet classes for residents in Herndon, Fairfax, Chantilly, Centreville, Reston and Sterling. |
